This track was recorded about 30 minutes later than the first with a Shure mv44 mic into an iphone. The structure and the first draft of the lyrics are beginning to reveal themselves at this point.
After the recording on the mv44, I started to get an interesting idea for the drums in my head. I knew it would be easy to forget so in order to get it down, I played the previous track on my phone through a big speaker and put the mv44 in between the drums and the speaker and played along as best I could. The demo wasn't recorded with a click and I couldn't hear the speaker very well all the time, so the timing gets off a bit. But the purpose of remembering how the toms and cymbals and stick clicks fell into line was accomplished.
After the first 3 recordings, I showed the song to Joe and worked on a loop to help adapt the drum part to our two-piece foot drums format. This is the first recording where the structure is pretty set, the lyrics are drafted and the loop and bass were added. After this, I sent the lyrics draft to my friend Lee and he made quite a few changes that made it into the final cut of the song. From there we recorded the final version which you can listen to on Spotify.
